Hair Extensions: Why does there seem to be so much hair shed when removing my Weave or Extensions?
|
I love to answer this question because there seems to be a lot of confusion with this one! Your natural hair sheds on a daily basis as part of a natural process. It is normal to lose up to a 100 hairs a day! Just because you have extensions in your hair does not mean that this natural process stops, it in fact continues, but since your hair is in braids or which ever installation method was used to attach your hair extensions your daily hair shed is trapped in the installation and not falling out into your sink or latching on to your comb or brush as usual. So when you remove your hair extensions, all of that normal hair shed is then released and it appears as though a lot of hair is coming out all at once. If you are wearing your hair extensions for 8 to 12 weeks, that's up to 5,600 to 8,400 hairs you have shed during this natural process! I can not stress enough how important it is to have a trained extensionist remove your hair extensions! She or he too can explain this natural process to you.
